DHONI HAILS KOHLI

MS Dhoni has hailed Virat Kohli for his brilliant hundred in the 6th ODI game against Australia which was played at Nagpur yesterday. Kohli scored 115 runs off just 66 balls in the match and helped India chase down the huge target of 351 with 3 deliveries to spare.

That was Kohli’s second hundred in the series. He had scored a thunderous ton in the 2nd ODI as well which was played at Jaipur.

Now, with yesterday’s win, the ODI series has got levelled at 2-2 and the last game which will be played on Saturday at Bengaluru will be a decider.

In the press conference after yesterday’s match, when Dhoni was asked about Kohli’s innings, he said, “He was absolutely fantastic. When the ball got old, it started reversing a bit. But, still, Virat was getting into good positions and hitting those boundaries. He made sure that the new batsman coming in didn’t feel any kind of pressure and that was the most amazing thing about his batting today.”

This is the second time in this series that India has chased down a 350 plus target. They had done that in Jaipur too.

When asked about that, Dhoni said, “I don’t think it’s a good thing for the game. You don’t want to see just fours and sixes in the whole match.”

“These new rules have made it very tough for the bowlers. Even the pacers are not getting a deep third man or a deep fine leg because you can only keep four fielders outside the circle. I don’t think it’s going in the right direction.”

Dhoni also praised the openers who set the platform with a huge partnership at the top of the order.

The Indian captain said, “Rohit and Shikhar did well up the order. They soaked up the pressure and set the platform for the middle order guys.”
