The Kerala Franchise of the Indian Super League Football has given the name ‘Kerala Blasters’ to its team. This franchise has already become very popular among the fans and that’s because the former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is its co-owner.
The announcement regarding the team’s name was made yesterday in an event by the Kerala CM Oommen Chandy. Sachin himself was also present in that event.
Sachin answered the questions of the reporters at the end of the event. When he was asked about the reason behind naming the team ‘Kerala Blasters’, he said, “I am called Master Blaster affectionately by my fans. So, the name was partially taken from there I believe.”
Sachin who scored 100 hundreds for India in international cricket also said that although Cricket is the only sport that he has played, but, he has got a lot of idea about some of the other sports as well such as Soccer and Lawn Tennis.
Answering a question, the Little Master said, “Yes, I used to play only cricket when I was a kid, but, I had and still have a lot of interest in other sports too. I have idea about them and I watch them in the leisure time that I get.”
Sachin believes that the Indian Super League would promote the game of football in India and the kids would get attracted towards it.
Sachin said, “If all the people associated with the league put in good effort, I think it’ll be successful. The role of the media is also very important in it though.”
A big crowd gathering was there for the event in which the name was announced which suggests that there has not been any reduction in Sachin’s Popularity even after his retirement from all forms of cricket.
