Sri Lanka matches Vital

The captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has said that the upcoming series against Sri Lanka is going to be a vital one. He said that this is the start of a new season and we have to start the season well. He said that the Indian players have to forget the memories of the last two foreign tours and have to start on a fresh note.

The last two foreign tours were very bad for the Indian team. The problems of the Indian batsmen against the short pitched deliveries got exposed on those tours. And not only that, some of the batsmen were seen struggling against the swinging deliveries too. On the big grounds of Australia, the fielding capabilities of some of the senior players also got exposed. The team looked quite tired on those two tours. But, as per Dhoni, this long break has done a whole lot of good to the players. The team is looking fresh and energetic.

After reaching Sri Lanka on Wednesday, the team went to the hotel and after spending some time there, the players went straight to the R Premadasa stadium to have a light practice session. The Indian team has to play five ODIs and one T20 in Sri Lanka. On being asked about World T20 championship, Dhoni said that he doesn’t want to think too far ahead. He would like to take one series at a time. He is currently focusing on winning the one day series against Sri Lanka.

Dhoni said that the players are looking fit and agile. As per the Indian captain, the team has been strengthened by the come back of experienced players like Zaheer Khan and Virender Sehwag. He said it is always good to have a combination of experience and youth in the team.
